How long do peptides take to work, and how can you tell?

It depends on the peptide and on what you measure. Approved medicines such as tirzepatide have label timelines of weeks to months. Many research peptides have no human study that has timed them yet. The clearest way to see a change is your own log. Rate one or two things each day, starting a week before you begin, and compare the weeks side by side.

Claritide keeps your daily ratings next to your doses, and says when there is not enough data yet.

What decides how long a peptide takes to work?

Two things: what you are watching, and the evidence behind the peptide.

What you watch sets the pace. Skin, fat and injuries change slowly, so studies of them run for weeks or months. Some effects come sooner, such as tirzepatide's early effect on the stomach.

Evidence decides whether anyone has timed it at all. Approved medicines went through trials that measured results on a set schedule. Many research peptides have no finished human trial yet, so nobody has timed them in people. The table shows what studies in people measured, and when, with each compound's evidence tier from Claritide's library.

  • TirzepatideClinical trials

Weight, measured after 72 weeks in the trials behind its label.

  • SemaglutideClinical trials

Weight, measured at 68 weeks in the trials behind its label.

  • TesamorelinClinical trials

Deep belly fat by CT scan, measured at 26 weeks, in adults with HIV.

  • GHK-CuSmall human studies

Skin, in studies of creams that ran 8 to 12 weeks. We found no trial of injected GHK-Cu.

  • IpamorelinSmall human studies

Growth hormone, which peaked about 40 minutes after an infusion. We found no trial that timed sleep or body changes.

  • BPC-157Preclinical + practitioner use

No finished trial in an injury yet. A trial after rotator cuff surgery is set to start in January 2027.

  • TB-500Practitioner experience only

FDA found no human data of any kind.

Evidence tiers from Claritide's library. What was measured, and when, from each label or study in the sources.

When does tirzepatide start working?

Its label lays out the timeline. The first dose is for getting started, not a dose to stay on. The dose can then step up, after at least 4 weeks on each step. Levels in the blood settle into a steady weekly pattern after about 4 weeks.

Some effects come early. Tirzepatide slows how fast the stomach empties, and the label says that effect is largest after the first dose. Its trials measured weight after 72 weeks. At least 52 of those weeks were on the dose people stay on.

Semaglutide follows a similar path. Its dose climbs every 4 weeks and reaches the dose people stay on in week 17. Your prescriber sets your steps.

How long for BPC-157 to work?

Nobody has timed it in people yet, and that is starting to change. FDA's July 2026 review found five small human studies of BPC-157, and none in tendon problems.

A trial at the University of Arkansas is now listed. After rotator cuff surgery, it plans to give 30 people a daily BPC-157 shot or a sham with no drug, for 90 days. It is set to start in January 2027. Its main measure is shoulder strength at 12 weeks and 5 months, due by August 2027.

Until then, there is what people describe. Claritide's library notes subtle changes in weeks 1 and 2, and noticeable improvement in most reports by weeks 3 and 4. That is people's experience, not a trial result.

How can you tell if a peptide is working for you?

Give it a fair test with your own numbers, in five steps:

  1. 1.Pick one or two measures that fit your goal. The table below shows the ones Claritide asks about for each goal.
  2. 2.Start a week early. Rate them each day for 7 days before your first dose. That week is your baseline.
  3. 3.Change one thing at a time. Start one peptide, and keep sleep, training and food as steady as you can.
  4. 4.Rate at the same time each day, on the same 1 to 10 scale. Note anything unusual, like a late dose, a bad night or a hard workout.
  5. 5.Set the weeks side by side. Compare each week with your baseline week.

A notes app or paper works. Claritide asks these questions in a short daily check-in and keeps the answers next to your doses.

What Claritide asks you to log for each goal you can pick when you start, read from the app's own list. They are what to watch, not a promise that any peptide moves them.

Could the change be placebo?

Partly, maybe, and that is not a bad thing. The placebo effect is a real benefit that comes from expecting help. It shows up most in what you feel, such as pain, sleep and tiredness. Harvard Health notes that a placebo will not lower cholesterol, because it works on symptoms the brain shapes.

So pair a feeling with a measure that is harder to sway. That could be a weekly weigh-in, a tape measure, photos in the same light, or a lab result. When your daily ratings and a harder measure move together, week after week, you have more than a hunch.

How many weeks before your log can tell?

At least two: one week before you start and one week after. Claritide needs at least 7 readings on each side of a start before it compares them. It looks at up to 21 days on each side.

With enough readings, it grades what it finds as strong, moderate or weak. With too few, it says there is not enough data yet, and how many more days it needs. That is an honest answer, not a failure. Every finding is labelled as a pattern in your own log, not proof.

Slow changes take longer. The studies above measured skin and fat over months, so a few weeks of ratings may not show them yet.

Questions people ask

How long does ipamorelin take to work?

We found no trial that timed the effects people take it for, such as sleep. In healthy volunteers, the growth hormone release it causes peaked about 40 minutes after an infusion. Claritide's library notes that better sleep and recovery are the first effects its sources describe.

How long does TB-500 take to kick in?

Nobody has measured it in people. FDA found no clinical studies or human data on TB-500 by any route. Claritide's library notes that people describe first changes around weeks 2 to 3, later than with BPC-157.

How long for GHK-Cu to see results?

On the skin, studies of GHK-Cu creams ran 8 to 12 weeks. We found no trial of injected GHK-Cu, so nothing has timed that route. Photos in the same light each week are the fairest record.

How long does tesamorelin take to work?

The trials behind its label measured deep belly fat by CT scan at 26 weeks, in adults with HIV. The scale may barely move, so a weekly waist measure fits that goal better.
